Controlling Who Can Dial Out from a Phone Number

 

With the Tresta business phone system, you have the ability to add as many phone numbers as you’d like. But perhaps you only want outbound calls placed on a certain number. System administrators have the ability to enable outbound phone calls from the mobile app on any of their phone numbers. In addition, Authorized Dialers can be added and removed at any time.

It’s important to note that a system administrator is the only one who can enable or disable outbound calling for phone numbers, as well as add or remove authorized dialers.  

Note: The information below assumes that you have a phone number where the Outbound Calling function is disabled. By default, this function is enabled and all users are authorized to dial out from the phone number. 

Enabling Outbound Calls for a Phone Number

If you’re a system administrator, log into the Tresta web app and click on the Settings button. Next, click on the Phone Numbers tab under your System Settings. 

Once you’re on the Phone Numbers page, select the phone number from which you want users to place outbound calls and click the Edit icon.  

Once you’re on the Edit Phone Number page, click on the Outbound Calling tab. Next, click on the button in the Outbound Dialing Enabled section; this turns on outbound dialing for that phone number. Next, you need to select which users or user groups are permitted to place outbound calls from the phone number.

Controlling Authorized Dialers for a Phone Number

There may be instances where you wish to allow only certain users or user groups access to outbound dialing for a given number. Once you’ve ensured outbound dialing is enabled for a phone number, you must select your Authorized Dialers. 

As mentioned above, the All Users group is authorized by default. If you do not want all users to dial out from a phone number, start by clicking the +Add Subscriber link and selecting a new user or user group. Once you’ve made your selection, you can easily delete the All Users group.

Keep adding subscribers until you are satisfied with the roster. Finally, click the red Save button in the upper right corner of the Edit Phone Number page.  

If you need to remove an Authorized Dialer, revisit the Phone Numbers page, click the Edit icon for the phone number, and click the Delete icon next to the user or user group you need to remove. Finally, click the red Save button in the upper right corner of the Edit Phone Number page. 

Disabling Outbound Calls for a Phone Number

If you need to disable outbound calling for a particular number, it’s super easy. Once you’re on the Phone Numbers page, select the phone number for which you want to disable outbound calls and click the Edit icon.  

Once you’re on the Edit Phone Number page, click on the Outbound Calling tab. Next, click on the button (that’s enabled) in the Outbound Dialing Enabled section; this turns off outbound dialing for that phone number.  

Finally, click the red Save button in the upper right corner of the Edit Phone Numbers page.
