Managing caller ID display options.

Tresta’s dynamic caller ID ensures that you have the caller info you need to decide whether to answer incoming calls, and that you’re showing your Tresta phone number as the caller ID for outgoing calls.

Outgoing Calls

To manage the caller ID you are displaying on outgoing calls, simply select the number that you want to call from on the Calls screen on the Mobile App before placing your call. For more help on this topic, review Selecting which phone number you’re calling from.

To control who is able to place calls from a Tresta phone number, review Controlling who is able to place calls from a phone number.

Can I show my business name as the caller ID on outgoing calls?

Currently, no – you can only show the Tresta phone number you are using to place the call. Tresta does not offer CNAM services (the ability to show your business name as the caller ID on outgoing calls), because it is poorly supported among wireless carriers. However, with upcoming changes in the telecom industry being driven by STIR/SHAKEN, we hope to see this feature gain traction in the new protocol implementation. If and when this adoption begins to happen, we will add the ability to out pulse the name of your business along with the phone number you’re calling from.

Incoming Calls

The caller ID you receive on incoming calls is controlled at the device or forwarding number level and can be set to show either the Tresta Number that was dialed to reach you, or the Caller’s Number.

To change this setting, you’ll need to sign in to the web app, where you can edit the device or forwarding number that’s being used to send calls to you.

Editing Caller ID on Devices

  1. Click System

Note – if you are not a member of the System Admins group, you will not see this option.

  1. Click the Edit icon on the device that you want to modify. If you have multiple devices, you’ll need to make this update to each device.
  2. Change the Caller ID value to the setting you prefer.

Editing Caller ID on Forwarding Numbers

  1. Click System

Note – if you are not a member of the System Admins group, you will not see this option.

  1. Select Forwarding Numbers from the sidebar options on the left, and click the Edit icon on the forwarding number that you want to modify.
  2. Change the Caller ID value to the setting you prefer.

Enhanced Caller ID with the Mobile App

In addition to basic caller ID, if you have the mobile app installed on your device, you’ll receive a push notification with incoming calls that includes both the Tresta Number that was dialed to reach you, and the caller ID of the person that’s calling you.

To enable enhanced caller ID in the mobile app:

iOS > Settings > Tresta > Enable enhanced caller ID

Android > Settings > Tresta > Enable enhanced caller ID
