Viewing and Replying to Messages in Conversations

When your Tresta phone number(s) receives a new text message, the message will be delivered to each user that’s configured to receive messages from the phone number.

To view the message, select the conversation from the main Messages screen.

Replying to messages is pretty much the same as replying to messages in any other messaging app, but if you’ve added additional users to your phone system, be mindful that you may not be the only user with access to view and reply to the conversation you’re viewing. For more on this topic, review Controlling who is able to view, send, and reply to text messages.

Unlike voicemail boxes, each subscribed user maintains their own read state and deleted state, so if one user reads a message it will still show as new for other users who have not yet reviewed it.

If another user is typing in the conversation you’re viewing, you’ll see an indication of this above the compose area.

Also please bear in mind that while you can see the name of the users that are sending messages from your number in the conversation, the external person you are texting only sees that the messages are coming from your Tresta phone number – there is no indication that one message was sent by Tresta user Bob and the next message was sent by Tresta user Susan.

Accessing the Conversation Details Pane

To view more details about a conversation, select the (i) icon in the upper right-hand corner.

On the conversation details pane, you’ll find:

Mark as New/Reviewed

This button toggles the read state to manually mark a conversation as new or reviewed.

Archive

This button allows you to archive a conversation. If one user archives a conversation it will still display for other users who have not archived it.

Started

The Started section shows when the conversation was originally started.

Conversation Name

If the conversation is a group message with more than two participants, you have the ability to name the conversation.

Participants

All recipients of the conversation are listed in this section. Your Tresta number will have a “You” tag applied to it.

Subscribers

The users on your account that have permissions to view and reply to messages in the conversation are listed in this section.

To change which users have access to the texts on a phone number, review Controlling who is able to view, send, and reply to text messages.

Location

The Location map shows the location where phone numbers in the conversation are registered. Location data is based on the area code and prefix of each number, not the caller/callee’s actual location.
